Meet the Team
“My favorite part is helping the customer, whether that is a contractor or a homeowner,” says Manager Darle Hoshaw with his characteristic grin. “There is something very satisfying about getting things from ‘here to there’ for them and making them happy.”
Darle brings over 37 years of management and sales experience in the building materials industry. That includes manager at Spahn & Rose Lumber/Southtown Building Supply in Forest City; outside sales rep for Shelter Products Inc. in New Ulm and material delivery, sales and assistant manager at S. Hanson Lumber in Ames.
Michele Collins’ energy and expertise in cabinet design and knowledge of the latest trends will bring new life to your home.
Michele joined the Woodford Lumber and Home Company staff in 2012 as a design and sales consultant. Collins works with residential and business customers on remodeling and new construction projects as well as assisting in the retail store. Collins worked over 25 years at Farmers Lumber in Clear Lake, most recently as the assistant manager. Prior to working at Farmers Lumber, she was office manager for Best Way Inc. in Clear Lake.
Marley Freesemann brings over 51 years of building materials experience to the Woodford Lumber and Home Company team.
Marley joined Woodford Lumber & Home in 2012 as an outside sales person. He started his career in retail lumber in 1965 with J.F. Anderson in Grundy Center, Iowa. In 1971, he became assistant manager at Farmers Lumber Company in Clear Lake. He served as manager there for 20 years until he retired in December 2011.
Rob Ytzen uses his over 35 years of lumberyard expertise to ensure that Woodford Lumber and Home customers get the right materials, at the right time. As the Yard Foreman, Rob is the go-to man that both pros and do-it-yourselfers alike know they can count on.
Rob worked at the Woodford Lumber Yard in Thornton before coming to Clear Lake in 1981. He also is a skilled carpenter whose talents have been shared throughout the years.
Gary Swartwood takes pride in being able to literally “deliver” great customer service in his job as part of the delivery crew for Woodford Lumber and Home. With his signature smile, Gary is happy to get your products to the site when you need them.
Gary joined Woodford Lumber and Home in 2002. The Nora Springs High School graduate was a route salesman for IBC-Wonder Bread and worked at David Manufacturing both in Mason City prior to starting at Woodford’s.

Customers will be happy to know that Ginny’s family has the lumber business in its veins. Ginny and husband Stephen moved their family to Iowa when he took a job with a lumber retail business in Mason City. Ginny is a graduate of Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota. She brings her experience as assistant to the controller at banks, a bookkeeper for local stores and accounting service manager/customer service rep and accounting firm experience to the table.
